The Achilles Approach: 4C Model

We segment potential clients into different categories based on organization maturity level, identify needs for each category, and provide tools to address these needs.

Organization  Maturity Stage
Chaos Colonies Coordination Collaboration
Characteristics Flat structure, no segmentation of functions Organized by functions (business units) Focus on synchronization between business units Focus on value chain, beyond company boundary
Needs Document business processes, and invest in basic IT infrastructure Share information among units Optimize processes Strategy formation
Possible Tools Simple IT applications ERP, systems integration tools Inventory control, simulation Supply chain management

Each project is unique, given the fact that different clients may be in different categories and the peculiarity of clients’ situation.  Yet we adopt the same rigorous project life-cycle management methodology for every project.

We start with evaluation of client’s current situation. During this stage, we examine client’s current business processes and work procedures through interviews with client’s staffs and data collection. We use tools that includes flowcharts, statistical analysis, Pareto Chart, Cause-and-effect diagram to visualize and identify opportunities for improvement.

With the thorough understanding of issues at hand, we proceed to the stage called proposal formulation. First, we design a framework that breaks down one big problem into several more manageable sub-problems, and maps out the relationship among them. Then we focus our efforts on tackling these relatively independent sub-problems with modules. Finally we integrate individual modules to form a complete solution design.

Next step is implementation, probably the most important one. Some clients may want to implement proposal themselves, but we are more than happy to spearhead the implementation. This normally includes change management, software development and deployment. Not all implementation involves software development, but our experience shows that certain level of adjustments to current enterprise management information system and optimization of existing software user interface are almost inevitable, especially for those organizations with a relatively low level of technology maturity.

No project is complete without review stage. This is a stage that spans over the whole course of project. It includes progress updates we present during regular project meetings, feedback that we seek for the proposal, and adaption we make to reflect changes as demanded by clients or new business needs.
